From a Swiss visitor
"All I knew about Saskatchewan before leaving Europe was written on four sides of a 200-page guide about Canada. It said: 'One million people, capital: Regina, mostly flat prairie with big grain farms.'
But I wasn't going to spend my holidays on a grain farm, I was going to a special place. It's a place where fox and rabbit say goodnight to each other, as you say in German; to a place in the wilderness. Well, I didn't see them but, I saw lots of birds, deer and moose tracks and with luck even a moose not more than 10 metres away.
Besides watching wild animals there are hundreds of other interesting things to do. First of all there is the logging part, but don't be afraid, you won't have to work hard! It's lots of fun to help falling a tree with a buck-saw, to see how much power a horse develops, to pull a log to the landing, drive in a horse sleigh home and see what nice lumber your tree will become. During my holidays, I not only learned a lot about logging, Saskatchewan, trappers and farmers but also about sled dogs. First I learned how to harness them and enjoyed a ride with a six dog team as passenger. But as the days passed I learned more and more about their handling and reactions. At the end of my stay I was even able to drive my own 3 dog team, and we went with two sleds on a day trip. Certainly one of the highlights of my holidays.
I had lots of fun and unforgettable experiences at Sawyer Lake and there are two things for certain: I would add at least 10 pages to the Canada guide and I will come back!"

Rice River really stands out as something special
"We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed
our expedition to the Rice River Canyon. We have traveled
to many parts of Saskatchewan, as well as to many parts of
the world, but the Rice River really stands out as something
special. It's as if a wild mountain valley had been hidden
away in the Pasquia Hills, complete with dynamite scenery,
magical land formations, and evidence of a rich array of wildlife.
We were able to get some excellent photos for our new book,
Saskatchewan Scenic Secrets. You did a superb job of running
the trip - guiding us safely through remote country, and making
it a lot of fun as well.
We think that you're really onto something with Sawyer Lake
Outfitters. It's good to see that you're offering a wide range
of options from challenging hikes such as our Rice River trip
to more easy-going excursions into the wilderness. You have
wet our appetite for discovering other treasures you may have
hidden away in the beautiful part of Saskatchewan. Keep up
the good work."

Like taking along a walking encyclopedia
"Since I have always been an outdoorsy type of person,
when David Weiman approached me about producing a video for
Sawyer Lake Adventures, I jumped at the opportunity. Warning
me in advance that it could get grueling at times, David insisted
that we capture some of the hidden treasures he has discovered
in the back country. Little did I realize at the time the
exact adventure we were about to embark on! After almost 3
weeks of lugging camera gear throughout the forest, to my
amazement, we had logged almost 10 hours of raw footage. Everywhere
that David led me, there was something of value to capture
on video. The approach to the production was to cover the
four seasons portraying a complete scenario of the Boreal
Forest. This meant several trips to Sawyer Lake allowing me
to experience everything from the warm summer sunrises to
the cold winter sunsets.
What impressed me the most was David’s knowledge of the
Boreal. He is very in touch with the land, the wildlife, and
the history of the forest. Going on a Boreal adventure with
David is kind of like taking along a walking encyclopedia.
His desire to preserve the land via true eco-tourism practices
showed me he is in this business for the long haul.
I would strongly recommend Sawyer Lake Adventures to anyone
who has the desire to experience the best of Canada’s
natural wonders. Whether you prefer an easy scenic day adventures
or advanced “deep woods” excursions, David can certainly
accommodate you."

LAND OF THE LIVING SKIES, ein lebendiger Horizont in seinen
Was mein historisches Interesse anbelangt, konnte ich mir gar keinen
sammeln. Nostalgie gibt es hier naemlich genug. Alte Trails, von den
ersten Siedlern erhalten, versetzten mich manchmal in andere Zeiten.
so schnell vergessen werde.
suchte.
